The David Lukas Show

This week on the David Lukas Show, our host David speaks on the importance of knowing which products are great for Savers—ergo light on fees. Because fees are the number one factor in asset erosion, David stresses the importance in picking products with the lowest fees is the best way to ensure positive return.

With these factors in mind, David plays and then discusses a clip from the PBS special, The Retirement Gamble, which explains, specifically, how devastating the compounding costs of fees can and will be to your retirement account.

“What I uncovered while making this documentary made me rethink my financial future. It just might do the same for you.

Because as long as they don’t run away with our money or invest it in a Ponzi scheme, they have little in the way of accountability to us when something goes wrong. And even then it can be hard to fight back.”

David then plays a second clip from an interview with author John Bogle where Bogle states that there needs to be a full disclosure of fees and advisor (retirement or financial) profit before investments are made. Basically, what it all boils down to, is this: Do you really want to participate in a system where you put up 100% of the capitol, assume 100% of the risk, and only receive 30% of the return?

David closes the show by answering a couple of valued listeners’ email questions. The first question being…

From Little Rock,

Hi. I’m soon to be 66, in March 2016, and I want to enroll and then suspend my Social Security payments until later. I read where the government will be eliminating that program sometime next year. Will I still qualify for that suspension, if I do it before the program’s eliminated?

I also read that I can increase my Roth payments more than max if I had not contributed max annual payments over my life. I didn’t start retirement plans till I was 48. Thank you.

Concerning the horrific event that occurred on December 2nd 2015: Our thoughts and prayers are with the San Bernardino victims and their families through this heartbreaking time. There is nothing that can be said that will ease the pain of their loss. May God bless and keep them for they are in His care now and forever.

During this all-new installment of the David Lukas Show, David first speaks on the most recent act of terrorism placed upon Americans in San Bernardino, CA. on December 2nd 2015.

Throughout the first half of the show, David speaks candidly on topics such as: gun control, media sensationalism, migration, and the scary lengths at which terrorists will go to fulfill their singularly evil agendas. Also mentioned and discussed, bible verses that explain and comfort in these troubled times.

During the second half of the show, David gets back to business, so to speak, by chatting about author Barry Dyke’s third book Guaranteed Income A Risk Free Guide to Retirement. It’s Barry’s latest publication recommended by David, himself, and soon to be added to the DL Show’s Recommended Books page. Once added to the Saver’s arsenal of knowledge, Guaranteed Income A Risk Free Guide to Retirement will prove to be an invaluable resource for new or soon to be retirees looking to enjoy the second half of their lives WorryFree®.

On this episode of the DL Show, our gracious host first welcomes special guest Tony Walker, David’s mentor and partner in the WorryFree® Retirement process, to the show and chats with him about the recent budget cut soon to be singed into law. A budget cut that affects Social Security as it relates to soon to be retired individuals.

Apparently, The File and Suspend (an action that allows a person who hasn’t previously retired to reach retirement age and then suspend those payments until a later age)  option currently available to everyone eligible for Social Security withdraws is about to be terminated. Tony states that many retirees have used this option as a psudo-retirment strategy, to gain more money on the front end but unfortunately it’s a flawed plan. Because we don’t know how long we’ll live, that may not be the best strategic position to take. The WorryFree® retirement is more of a whole-istic approach that does include social security within the planning process but just as one element of the entire plan.

During the second half of the show, David dedicates his time to answering a valued listener’s important financial question.

Tony from Little Rock asked:

I recently opened an IRA for myself and my wife with ______________. And I urged them to put the money into a fixed index annuity within the IRA. ___________ said that they do not endorse or sell those products. Instead they put me into a variable annuity. I have read the annuities decision guide, and other books, and I’m becoming a fan of fixed indexed annuities. Would it be possible to move my variable annuity from ___________ over to you with a fixed indexed annuity? Are there minimum surrender charges? Would there be a penalty because I just opened it in the last 60 days?

To hear the insight David—Little Rock’s own retirement expert—has to give Tony, listen to the entire show today! Do you have IRA or Annuity questions? Call or write in to David Lukas Financial, and possibly get your question(s) answered on the air!

At the show’s closing, David speaks on the importance of transparency, keeping with last week’s concept of trust, when it comes to your accounts and their fees. As David frequently says, “It’s extremely important to know what you’re paying.” Visit davidlukasfinancial.com today to request the FREE fee disclosure kit which includes many helpful resources on the topic of fees. This week on the David Lukas Show, David reminds all of his valued listeners how important it is to not only safeguard their money, but to also enjoy the benefits of all their hard earned saving. After all, you can’t take it with you!

In the first segment, David talks about the two halves of life and how each one is instrumental to the other. Without the first half, the accumulation phase, the second half, at or near retirement, cannot be done WorryFree®.  Without a proper game plan, it’s almost impossible to protect, use and enjoy your money after you’ve finished working.

In the second segment, David answers a couple of listeners’ urgent questions. Jane, from Little Rock, sent the first question.

Backstory: Jane’s husband is physically disabled and co-owns a $160,000 home with around $75,000 in equity. Their house payments are about $1,200 a month on a 15-year mortgage.  They have limited income and Jane wants to know whether they

“should sell our home and scale down to a condo or refinance to a 30-year mortgage? Or should we hold on for two more years and refinance without a penalty charge of $1,700?”

The second question submitted was from Beth from Jacksonville, Arkansas.

Backstory: Beth has a 401K that is completely vested, worth about $60,000 and no longer works for the company she started it with. Beth says,

“I’m 56 and cannot draw from it until I’m 59 ½. I am about $10,000 in debt and I would like to use the 401K to pay it off and then put the balance in a Roth IRA. How do I go about doing that?”

This week, on the David Lukas Show, David chats about all the bad things that can rain on your retirement parade. So what’s the best thing to combat the retirement woes? Knowledge!

Throughout the hour, David discusses the four costs of money and what Savers can and should do to educate themselves on:

  1. Fees – know and understand the fees you are paying
  2. Taxes – know and understand how much you are paying on what
  3. Premiums – know and understand the projected fees your FA could/will earn
  4. Interest – know and understand how devastating compounding interest and lost opportunity cost can be–especially in connection to debt

During the second half of the show, David addresses some questions sent in by listeners.

Richard from Little rock.

I just got fired from my employer. I have a 401K and It received the max match benefit from my employer. Will I get to keep that money, and what should I do with it?

                        -Richard from Little Rock, AR.

I have a 401K through my work. Is there any way to close the account and move it to an annuity or an IRA of my choice? I’m not happy with my current advisor and would like to have more control over my money.

-Wyatt from Ward, AR.

Playing the stock market can be…tricky. And just as stock buy in/out prices can go up and down, so can the profits.  TRUTH: Money’s being made whether you are or not. So who’s profiting on your investments? The answer should be you right? Right. But more often than not, it’s not.

Regrettably, too many retirees don’t realize the damage that both hidden fees and future taxation can and will have on their retirement. This week on the David Lukas Show, David talks about all the money that’s being made off of your investments in the form of fees.

During the first half of this week’s episode, David addresses a question, sent in by a listener in Arkadelphia.

Beverly’s question:

I Have a 401k that I’m getting ready to roll over into an IRA but just found out that some of it is after-tax money. What do you suggest that I do with this money. I’m currently drawing unemployment and I believe that drawing any of the money out of there could cancel my benefits. Although I do want to have some of my 401K money for later projects, I just don’t want to do it right now. I’m 63 and currently looking for a work so I can get some insurance.  Thanks for any suggestions

To hear what David—the retirement expert—has to say, listen to the entire show today! Tune in next week to hear what David has to say about Social Security and the taxation involved.

During the second half of the show, David explains how important it is to understand exactly how fees both damage retirement accounts and create lost opportunity costs. (Lost opportunity cost: The difference in return between a chosen investment and one that is necessarily passed up. Say you invest in a stock and it returns a paltry 2% over the year. In placing your money in the stock, you gave up the opportunity of another investment - say, a risk-free government bond yielding 6%. In this situation, your opportunity costs are 4% (6% - 2%--definition via Investopedia.) Every day, David encounters clients with investment accounts that have no real understanding of how they work—exactly how Wall Street wants it.

Political season is upon us. And both sides, Democrats and Republicans, are scrambling for solutions to fix our country’s financial future. Both sides seem to know  and understand that something economically bad is imminent—it’s just a matter of time.

This week on the David Lukas Show, our host David first discusses an article written by By Kevin Cirilli and Bob Cusack, Trump: the economic bubble about to burst,  Featured on thehill.com and its relevance to Savers. The article is an exclusive interview, featuring GOP presidential frontrunner Donald Trump, in which Trump warns American citizens that “ a looming economic recession is coming.” In the article, Trump also argues that the stock market has already entered into another bubble. (Click on the article’s name above to read.)

As David has mentioned to his listeners before, the banking industry is in the business of building upon and protecting their interests (or interest: $$) —not yours. So where have most Savers traditionally told other Savers to put their money? In the bank of course! But don’t worry. You have other options. Options that earn you interest and protect your hard-earned retirement funds from some of the ugly surprises that can happen after retirement.

During the second half of the show, David addresses another listener’s , Scott from Hot Springs, AR., question about retirement:

I’m 64 in three months with a retirement age of 66. I’m considering retirement at 65, in 4 months, which is early. I’ll be eligible for Medicare this year, I’ve a 401k, Whole Life that will mature at 65, and I’ll be debt free. How can I make Social Security work and not worry about tax issues with the 401k and the life insurance?

When it comes to life insurance, there are many differences of opinion.  The people in the business of selling life insurance love it, of course.  And the financial planning industry, the people who want you to put your money in the market, tend to hate it. Why all this difference in opinion you ask? Well, it’s because many of the people in the financial industry don’t fully understand the benefits of whole life insurance —that’s why!

This week, on the David Lukas Show, David uses the first half-hour to discuss all of the real benefits life insurance, whole life insurance specifically, has to offer.

Highlights: The primary advantages of whole life insurance are: Protection for life. The policy will never expire or go down in value. Level Premiums – The rate you pay will never increase. Cash Value – A portion of your premium builds cash value—which can be borrowed against. In short, you become your own banker with control over your money!

During the second half of the show, David addresses a specific listener’s question concerning whole life insurance. The listener’s question being:

Should I cash in the $15,000 whole life insurance policy, that I inherited from my father, to pay off some of my outstanding loans and debt? Although my father’s plan only costs $96.00 a year, I already have a $150,000 policy in place for myself. What should I do?

It is historically evident that the stock market experiences a major correction every 7 -8 years. They don’t call it The Seven Year Itch for nothing. Armed with this information, why would you put your hard earned retirement funds at risk, if you’re at or near retirement?  You’ve been told you have to by the Financial Industry—that’s why!

This week on The David Lukas Show, our namesake host talks about some of the disparaging remarks many of the “talking mouths” in the financial world make about annuities. Because most financial businesses are geared toward touting their products to financially uninformed people, they focus their sell as a one-size-fits-all approach that rarely works for anybody let alone everybody. Unfortunately, concentrated efforts are being made to sell the same products and retirement plans to everyone.

During the first half of the show, David addresses some of the important questions that listeners sent in last week. Featured is the story of a widow living here in Arkansas, who met with a well-known bank that suggested that she put 95% of her husband’s life insurance policy, after his death, into annuities. And, according to David, our retirement specialist, that isn’t the best thing to do.

For the second and final half of the show, David deconstructs one of his favorite scriptures, Romans 8:12 (Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation—but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it.) And explains how we can apply this scripture, to our lives, in financial terms.

So, if you’re a saver nearing the second half of life, you too can retire worry free! Because the WorryFree Retirement® (WFR®) is specialized for savers, meeting with David of David Lukas Financial is the first step to getting there. The WFR® process is easy and carries no obligation of cost to start.

In the game of retirement planning, are you winning? Do you trust your financial or retirement rep’s best interests in planning your future? If you answered yes to both of these questions, you’re ahead of the game. If not, then you may be a Saver in need of some help.

What qualifies someone as a Saver, you ask?

The answer is simple. A Saver is someone who’s more concerned in the ownership of his or her money/ assets, and less interested in risk involved with investments on Wall Street.

So what’s a Saver to do when they’re told to throw all of their money into the market?

This week on the David Lukas show, David talks about how planning your retirement correctly can substitute the security and dependability of your granddad’s long-gone pension plan.

I have a 401k. What’s wrong with my 401K?

Throughout the hour David explains how the traditional 401K may not be the safest way to plan in today’s volatile market. This is because the money you have currently vested in the market is at RISK. Savers don't like risk, especially when thy need their money most (at or near retirement).

With traditional 401k’s there is no liquidity or allowance for the use of your money (before age 59 and a half) —your assets! So, if you can’t access the money, do you truly own that money?

How do I know what type of annuities are right for me?

All annuities are not the right for everyone. But for Savers, they are just what they are looking for. It takes an experienced retirement specialist, like David Lukas,to understand how to integrate an annuity properly into a retirement income plan.

If you are interested in a WorryFree Retirement® and hearing more about what you need to know about purchasing an annuity or what you need to know about an annuity you currently own, listen to the entire show today!

It’s no secret that money makes the world go round. But what the Financial Industry and Wall Street don’t want you to know is exactly how much they’re making off of your money (investments).

That is why most of Wall Streets messages and strategies are geared towards investors and speculators—AKA risk takers and loss accepters. NOT SAVERS.

This week, on the David Lukas Show, David discusses how the government’s and Wall Street’s one size fits all retirement plan (the stock market and 401k), is NOT suited for everyone—especially not for Savers. What many investors don’t realize is that hidden costs and fees can, and most likely will, deplete your current Wall Street (investments) and/or government retirement plan (401k) causing you to outlive your hard earned retirement funds.

Throughout the hour, David discusses and explains how the WorryFree Retirement® is best suited for savers. So what makes a Saver’s retirement plan different from that of an Investor or a Speculator you ask? The lack of risk, that’s what. David also explains how easy the Worry Free Retirement® Process truly is. So, whether you’re currently in the 1st or 2nd half of life, you can put the necessary planning in motion today that will truly allow you a WorryFree® future.

Interested in retiring with confidence? Get started with these five simple steps:

First, CLARIFY YOUR VISION

Before beginning any journey, it’s best to know where you are going and what to expect along the way. Our first step of the process is unique because it’s all about you and “your” vision of retirement.

Together, we will clarify where you want to go. We’ll help identify your personal strengths and opportunities and consider potential dangers and threats to your financial journey. A personalized written outline summarizing your unique vision will be mailed to you for review at no cost or obligation.

Second, ASSESS YOUR SITUATION

A trusted doctor would never give a medical diagnosis without first looking you over. Neither will we! That’s the reason the second step was created: “The Assessment.”

At this meeting we will review your personal financial information. We’ll help organize your finances so that potential issues or concerns can be addressed and corrected. A brief written assessment of any findings and recommendations will be provided to you at no cost.

Third, COMMIT YOUR RETIREMENT

The WorryFree Retirement® is based on commitment and trust. In order to work together, we must confirm our commitment to the process.

We will never pressure you to buy anything from us, nor will we ever suggest you move forward with our recommendations unless you completely understand them.

Fourth, IMPLEMENT YOUR GAMEPLAN

Reaching any goal requires action. With implementation of your personal Gameplan, you will have a safe, easy to follow path format reaching your retirement goals.

This written Gameplan will be self-contained in a highly organized binder that clearly communicates your hopes and dreams.

Fifth, MONITOR YOUR PROGRESS

There’s only one guarantee in life: Nothing stays the same. Because change is inevitable, we provide one-on-one consultation with you at no cost, whenever you need it. When you’ve got a question, we’ll be here for you. That’s what trust and commitment are all about.

The WorryFree Retirement® Process anticipates change and values the idea of monitoring your progress along the way. Our time together also gives us a chance to explore new ideas and possibilities as well.

On this week’s episode of the David Lukas Show, David and Zach talk about how easy it is for investors to simplify their financial plan—allowing them to truly retire WorryFree®.

According to David and Zach, financial simplicity offers peace of mind whilst denoting an era of completeness. This allows the saver (AKA savvy investor) to enter into a restful, not emotionally disrupted, financial state.

As Leo Babuta so eloquently stated in his book, The Power of Less, "simplicity boils down to two steps: Identify the essential. Eliminate the rest." Identifying the financial essentials and dispelling the myths of Wall Street, while educating investors, is exactly what David and his associates strive to accomplish everyday at David Lukas Financial.

In return, a company culture focused on helping individuals save money, not give it away to the financial industry has been effectively established. All of this is accomplished by creating a simple game plan focused on reducing wealth eroding transfers such as taxes, interests on debt, and unnecessary fees.

"Even the intelligent investor is likely to need considerable willpower to keep from following the crowd." — Benjamin Graham

This week on the David Lukas Show, David speaks candidly about how important it is to know the steps and planning needed to start saving smart in the first half (the accumulation phase) of your financial life.

Because savers truly have a certain mentality, when it concerns money, they have different feelings toward the process of investing—and rightly so. That is why the WorryFree Retirement® was created, to Help Savers Worry Less About Money®.

Throughout the hour, David explains how creating a retirement plan and vision—with a retirement expert—will lessen the blow when the government comes to collect the taxes owed on your 401K. David also expands how everyone, from the regular American Joe to small business owners, can and should be able to access their money during the accumulation period.

"When you read about the debates, and people who talk in absolutes that annuities are terrible or the greatest thing, they’re really neither. There’s no such thing as an all-bad or all-good investment. You have to look at your overall investing strategy." —Barry Streit

This week on the David Lukas Show, David and Tony Walker discuss how just as all savers are not the same, neither are annuities. And, unfortunately, because annuities have continuously received a bad rap from the financial sector, savers tend to be skeptical about their true value.

Throughout the hour, Tony and David explain how annuities are perfect for savers that want guaranteed income for life while minimizing risk in the stock market. And just as pensions once guaranteed monthly Mailbox Money® so do annuities through the WorryFree Retirement®.

If you’re interested in hearing about the different types of annuities available to you, listen to the entire episode today!

*We know that savers are attracted to bank products, understandably, but while banking interest gains remain low, lost opportunity costs cause wealth erosion that can’t be made back. Big decisions should be based on specialized knowledge. David Lukas Financial has the knowledge you need to make the informed decisions necessary to plan your WorryFree Retirement®.

– Fifth in the ED Series –

When it comes to financial advisors’ and retirement specialists’ overall feelings about annuities, there will undoubtedly be differences of opinion.

Just as many FAs dislike and refuse to recommend annuities for their clients, equally as many retirement specialists suggest annuities as a fail-safe way to protect and set aside some, if not most, of an investor's assets specifically for retirement.

This week, on the David Lukas Show, David brings to light the murky issue of all the undisclosed fees that you are most likely paying on your retirement investments. According to the article “The Retirement Risks We All Share”, found on Time.com, two thirds of Americans don’t realize that they may be or have been paying astronomical fees on their 401k plans. Unfortunately, what most investors don’t understand is that many times the success of your investments depends on keeping fees as low as possible.

And because David Lukas, of David Lukas Financial, wants to be as transparent with all current and potential clients as possible he offers a FREE  fee disclosure kit and annuities’ fees sheet, available on dlshowonline.com, to help you understand what fees you are paying on your retirement investments (Fees like: front end sales charge, back end sales charge, purchase fees, annual redemption fee, investment management fees, administrative costs, exchange fees, accounting fees, advisory fees, turnover expenses, brokerage commission, market impact, spread cost, unvested cash—just to name a few!)

Later in the hour David also references that the article “How To Pay Lower Fees On Your Retirement Investments”,found on US News Money, states that investors should aim to pay less than 1% on fees and try to keep all investment costs below 1% annually. The article also mentions that an employee can always ask his or her employer for a Roth IRA option.

YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO KNOW that hidden or high percentage fees are one of the biggest enemies to your savings! If you’re a saver in the second half of life and a WorryFree Retirement® is something you’re are interested in call David at 501-218-8880 today!

“The tyranny of compounding costs overcomes the miracle of compounding interest.” ―John Bogle, of Vanguard

Every year, we Americans, en masse, participate in fee heavy investment accounts without having any idea of how they work. Few current and future retirees realize the eroding effect that all the hidden fees and future taxation can and will have on their retirement..

In this week’s installment of the Ed Series, David and his featured guest, partner, and mentor Tony Walker discuss the fees investors should expect when they hold mutual funds on Wall Street and the opportunity cost (money lost to fees, taxes, and future capitol interest) that happens as a result.

Throughout the hour, David and Tony support the idea that “the only people truly profiting from mutual funds are the insiders and the asset managers”. This is because most mutual funds require very little management, and in turn are heavily laden with hidden fees. Transparency, when it comes to your retirement assets, is key in choosing what funds are the best and worst to invest in. But, the unfortunate reality is that Wall Street doesn’t want you to know about any of this because it’s where a lot of the big money is made! To learn more about the hidden fees in mutual funds and how to safeguard your assets through annuities, listen to the rest of the episode today.

Third in the Annuities Ed Series

Trust
noun \ˈtrəst\
: belief that someone or something is reliable, good, honest, effective, etc.
: an arrangement in which someone's property or money is legally held or managed by someone else or by an organization (such as a bank) for usually a set period of time
: an organization that results from the creation of a trust.

It’s been said that a vision without action is but a daydream. But an action without a vision is but a nightmare. Planning for retirement requires a vision, whether it’s your own or that of a professional retirement planner you trust.

On this week’s episode of The David Lukas Show, David and Zach open the hour with a candid discussion about the importance of trust and vision. David, and then later also with Tony, discusses how the WorryFree Retirement® is perfect for savers and what the five important steps in starting that process are.

The Annuities Ed Series

It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning. — Henry Ford

We savers aren’t born with the innate ability to save. The act of saving is a philosophy instilled in us as children most often by parents and grandparents that are or were savers themselves. And more often than not, the “saver” parents and grandparents were taught by their parents and grandparents how to save…and so on.

Question: Where have most of the savers of the past told other savers to put their money?
Answer: The bank.

So why isn’t the bank the best place to keep your savings for retirement today, you ask? Because life’s inevitable unpredictable events are inevitable and—unpredictable. Just as “you shouldn’t put all of your eggs in one basket” you shouldn’t keep all of your money at the bank. Because banks are highly leveraged, they are able to loan out 90% of the account holders’ money. In other words, when you deposit $10,000 into your bank account, the bank can legally loan out $9,000 of YOUR MONEY! That deposit is not held in trust, as it should be. Instead the bank is profiting greatly from loaning your money with no risk to them.

In this second installment of the Annuities Ed series, David explains, in detail, the security your hard earned retirement funds holds in annuities in comparison to the bank. He also clarifies that Federal Law requires insurance companies to keep at least 100% of their deposits (with a minimum reserve average of 115%), and that insurance contract holders are further protected because insurance companies are forbidden in buying investments or speculating with FDIC insured funds.

Tony joins David in the discussion, during the final leg of the show. Together they further explain how the security of annuities can afford you and your family the WorryFree Retirement® you want! This segment is filled with loads of great information, so you should listen to the entire episode today!

First in the Annuities ED Series

THE DEFINITION OF RISK — is the chance that an investment's actual return will be different than expected. Risk includes the possibility of losing some or all of the original investment. Different versions of risk are usually measured by calculating the standard deviation of the historical returns or average returns of a specific investment. A high standard deviation indicates a high degree of risk. – Investopedia.com

In this first installment of the Annuities ED series of the David Lukas Show, David and Tony Walker, his partner and mentor, talk about the two different camps (Wall Street and the insurance world) on the financial front and clarify how RISK is the main difference between investments and annuities.

Throughout the hour, Tony and David discuss how the guaranteed income of your granddad’s pension still lives through the security of annuities backed by insurance companies. They also explain how, with the right knowledge and facts, you too can secure guaranteed income for you and your family—for life!

If you’re a saver that’s uninterested in the uncertain volatility of the Stock Market then you’ll want to listen to the entire episode. Be sure to tune in each Saturday at 12:00pm for the next installment of the Annuities ED series. It’s definatly something you won’t want to miss.

The two types of annuities discussed during todays show are:

Fixed: Fixed annuities are invested primarily in high-grade corporate bonds and government securities and there are two types: the Guaranteed Return Annuities (GRA) is a fixed annuity that offers a fixed guaranteed interest rate.

Indexed: An Fixed-Indexed Annuity works like this: Fixed-Indexed Annuities give you the best of both worlds. The opportunity to share in a rising market. In addition, interest credited to the contract is locked in (usually annually) and cannon be lost. Fixed-indexed annuities provide the safety that you won’t loose a dollar when the market tanks. Income riders are very popular on these fixed index annuities. They provide guaranteed income for life that the contract holder can never outlive.

When it comes to your retirement planning, are you a saver an investor or a speculator? Can you differentiate between the three? If you can, great! If you can’t, you’re not alone. Just as with shoes, retirement plans are not a one kind fits all situation. Different types of people are more, or less, comfortable with different types of retirement plans and it takes a certain kind of financial advisor to help his or her clients differentiate between the lot.

This week, on the David Lukas Show, David talks with his partner and mentor Tony Walker about how anyone can truly retire worry free. Walker, the master mind behind The WorryFree Retirement®, talks about how 9-11 and the devastating consequences of the stock market fall of 2008 were both major turning points in his career. Walker decided that he wanted to keep doing what he doing—but differently. He knew that there was one great way to safeguard his “saver” clients’ hard earned retirement funds. Annuities!

So, if you’re a saver nearing the second half of life, you too can retire worry free! Because the WorryFree Retirement® (WFR®) is specialized for savers, meeting with a David of David Lukas Financial is the first step to getting there. The WFR® process is easy and carries no obligation of cost to start.

On this week’s all new installment of the David Lukas Show, David and Zack talk about how, with careful planning, you can reap the benefits of guaranteed income for life. And because David Lukas Financial is dedicated to helping savers worry less about money®, David and Zach also, throughout the hour, chat about how different peoples’ personalities determine how they both deal with and feel about money.

According to David, and other reputable financial authorities, market volatility seems to run in seven-year cycles. The disaster that the sub-prime mortgage credit bubble burst of 2007-2008 left in its wake still has some investors desperately trying to pick up the pieces of their ruined retirement, because savers, investors, and speculators alike lost so many precious retirement funds that will never return. The banks to blame were indeed To Big To Fail, because the government did in fact bail them out with taxpayer money!!

The pain of so much capitol lost has now led many an investor to change their status from speculator to saver.

Many now realize that it is their job to check and confirm that the financial products and strategies they’ve chosen are in line with who they are and what best suits their financial personality.

You can avoid the trappings of the one size-fits-all mentality that Wall Street sells. Because neither Wall Street nor the government has any intentions of safeguarding your hard earned retirement funds—it’s up to you! So if you’re more concerned with protecting the return of your money than seeking higher rates of return on your investments the time to act is now.

Throughout life, we have, are, and will be told, often, to be leaders not followers. Our loved ones do their best to teach us to make smart informed choices about everything in life. So why should the decisions we make about our retirement be any different?

This week, David and Zach discuss how imperative it is to break free from the financial herd when it comes to planning for a WorryFree Retirement®.

David and Zach also mention how Tony Walker, David’s mentor and partner, while introducing his book Don’t Follow The Herd explains it best when he says:

From the time we’re old enough to walk, society teaches us to work hard, think for ourselves and above all else, never succumb to peer pressure. Yet, as we grow older and less confident in ourselves, we find it easier to simply follow along with what everyone else is doing, a phenomenon known as “Herd Mentality.”

This phenomenon is most prevalent when it comes to money. Like clueless cows led to slaughter, we hand the financial world our money because that’s what everyone else is doing. The result: we all of a sudden wake up to discover that they’ve made more money on our money than we have!

Throughout the hour, David and Zach discuss how retirement planning should be a qualitative process not a quantitative process. Also, Zach mentions how some red flags to listen for when talking to your financial planner about your current retirement portfolio might be:

  • Just hang in there.
  • It’s not trying to time the market, it’s time in the market!
  • Don’t pull your money out.
  • SAVE, SAVE, SAVE

So, if you’re tired of drinking downstream from the rest of the herd, and worrying about money you should listen to the entire show today!

Economics is the social science that studies economic activity to gain an understanding of the processes that govern the production, distribution and consumption of goods and services within an economy.
— The Economist’s Dictionary of Economics

In the world of finance, economics truly has its place. But what does economics have to do with retirement? Well, everything. Because it’s often said that the central purpose of economic activity is the production of goods and services to satisfy our ever changing needs and wants, then why would these ever changing needs and wants change after retirement?

They change because the world’s most basic economic problem ends up being about two things: scarcity and choice. These two sometimes disastrous attributes directly affect everyone both before and after retirement. In this uncertain economic world filled with scarcity and choice, new or soon-to-be retirees then must consider…

  • What goods and services can they afford, when the economy uses its resources to raise the prices of healthcare, living expenses, and taxes? Should retirees be expected to just sit idly by while the cost of living greatly exceeds the monthly allowance their government-sanctioned retirement provides?
  • How best to survive the ever-rising costs of living, within the means provided by a basic 401k-retirement plan? What would be the best use of such scarce monthly resources? Should additional stocks and bonds be sold to provide more (taxable) income?
  • What is the percentage of unnecessary fees being paid on big name mutual fund holdings? Are they ok with the amount of money their financial advisors makes on their investments?
  • Will they be able to afford expensive prolonged hospital treatment – or not? What are the costs and consequences of long-term disability without the appropriate insurance planning?

During this week’s installment of the David Lukas Show, David and Zach discuss how beneficial a general knowledge of economics is when planning your retirement strategy. Learn the steps necessary for a WorryFree Retirement® by listening to the entire episode now!

Although statistics are only a compilation of numbers, they tell us a lot. Especially in the subject of finance. According to the study, “Reclaiming the Future” done by Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America, statistics show that 60% of Americans fear outliving their retirement funds more than they fear their own DEATH! Sixty Percent! The comfort of death now outweighs the security that people once had in knowing that the retirement they’ve worked their entire lives for isn’t quite what was sold to them.

Baby boomers are set to retire in record numbers and when the Silver Tsunami hits Americans are going to learn live the ugly truths hidden within their 401Ks. Retirees will be forced to realize that the retirement plans they’ve contributed to will then be subject to hefty fees and taxation.

This week, on the David Lukas Show, David and Zach discuss just how unsecure your 401K could truly be and how the IRS collected over 5 billion dollars in penalty fees for individuals that chose to access their own money by cashing in o their 401ks early. ( Check out the DL Show episode Fees, Fees, Fees for an in-depth explanation on the types of fees that your investments could be subject to.)

Throughout the hour, David and Zach explain how the typical 401K can be replaced by a retirement plan that offers:

  • A stable/ predictable standard of living
  • Guaranteed money for life
  • A guarantee in value
  • Protection against market risk
  • A stable worry free source of income
